Community Garden

The St Andrew Memorial Community Garden project

The garden, opened in 2011, as an outreach project of St Andrew Memorial Anglican Church, where the church community offers garden plots to area residences, at little or no cost. The garden currently has 14 plots for area residents with room to grow.

The garden project helps area residents grow their own food and promotes healthy lifestyles and healthy communities by:

  • Lowering the Carbon Footprint of the gardeners
  • Connecting people with the environment and each other
  • Reduces exposure to pesticides through food
  • Promoting physical activity

The garden has been made possible with partnerships with the London Community Resources Centre and by a SPARKS community development grant from the City of London,

and through a micro grant from LondonSOUP.

St Andrew Memorial Anglican Church also has begun to add fruit trees to ring the garden, making this garden project a focal point for area residents and help to make Old South one of the best neighbourhoods in London in which to live and work.

We have also planted a pollination garden as part of the Gardens4Bees project. (Thanks to John Sproule for the bee photo above).

If you would like to adopt a garden plot for yourself or a group, please contact the parish.

If you are interested in making a donation to the garden project or having a fruit tree dedicated in someone’s name, please contact the parish
