Lent and Holy Week at St Andrew Memorial

From the Book of Alternative Services, we are called to “observe a holy Lent by self-examination, penitence, prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and by reading and meditating on the Word of God.”

There are extra opportunities for worship and study during Lent, both at St. Andrew Memorial, and in partnership with other congregations in London.

You are invited to make any or all of the following part of your Lenten observance:

Shrove Tuesday – February 28

Ash Wednesday – March 1
Imposition of Ashes

Lenten Scripture Study – Encounter the Living Word

Holden Evening Prayer – a partnership between Lutheran and Roman Catholic congregations, to which we are also invited

Liturgy of foot-washing, followed by stripping of the chancel

Prayer Vigil – April 13-14
Everyone is encouraged to take an hour throughout the night to wait with Jesus as the crucifixion approaches.
The vigil ends with the beginning of the Good Friday service.
